This trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s long awaited WWII film Inglorious Basterds is getting a lot of positive buzz. I find myself surprised by my negative reaction to it. While I have always understood, and often enjoyed, Tarantino’s violent indulgences, this film strikes me as going a bit too far towards aestheticizing and celebrating grotesque acts of violence without properly critiquing that violence.

Hopefully the finished project will put my fears to rest.
